ABOUT THIS EVENT
Have you wondered what to do when someone you know says something bigoted, even if it’s unintentional? Or when you witness someone you don’t know being the target of verbal abuse, prejudice or worse? How do you take constructive action?
Join us for a FREE 2-hour introductory skill-building workshop on how to be an empowered active bystander. This interactive training will explore how to safely and effectively intervene when we witness situations of bigotry or injustice.
Participate in action-oriented practice and role-plays to work through challenging scenarios based on real life experiences. Learn the basics of how to speak up in different situations and engage allies to be better prepared with the skills to step in when the moment arises. Learn how to engage in effective dialogue to help build a culture of change in your communities.
This meaningful workshop will be facilitated by Christopher Ellinger and Tonia Pinheiro of True Story Theater. LexPride has collaborated with TST on many important themes for our community.
The workshop is especially for LGBTQ+ and other seniors, but all are welcome!
*This event is sponsored by LexPride as part of our Celebrating LGBTQ+ Seniors project, which is supported by a grant from the Dana Home Foundation. It is cosponsored by Lexington Senior Services, Arlington Council on Aging, and Arlington LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Commission.
